Baby Ballet and Baby Hip Hop

Baby Ballet (Ages 3-4) is a fun way for kids to develop their movement skills, spark their imagination, focus their energy and stimulate their creativity. This class uses a concept-based approach, through which students learn the fundamentals and principles of dance. Benefits of creative dance include opportunities for self-expression through movement, an introduction to dance aesthetics, as well as social development. This combination of movement, music, improvisation, and basic dance steps is an excellent introduction for the future study of dance techniques.

Contemporary

Students are introduced to elements of modern dance techniques, combining exercises to relax, lengthen, align and strengthen the body to prepare for movement combinations through space. The curriculum is designed to build skills and understanding through the full range of technical elements while nurturing a vigorous, joyful, and expressive approach to dancing. Students will also explore different choreographic principles fed by structured improvisations and creative projects.

Children’s Ballet

Children's Ballet gives kids a chance to experience the imaginative, concept-based approach of creative movement, and get an introduction to basic ballet technique. In this class children practice creativity, focus, musicality, coordination, listening and learning vocabulary. Props and a variety of music are used while introducing students to the joy of movement and ballet. This class develops confident, creative movers and is a good foundation for dance and other movement activities.

Ballet & Pointe

These classes provide a focused foundation in ballet in a fun and positive environment, and develop strong technique for students starting serious dance training. Opportunities for each student to learn and practice executing movement correctly are provided; students develop strength, musicality, concentration, and alignment. This class is suitable for students who want to try ballet because they are interested in becoming dancers, and for students who simply want to dance and improve their body awareness and placement. Classes from beginner to pre-professional levels are taught, using the Cecchetti and Vaganova methods, with emphasis on creativity. Students are encouraged to study twice weekly, although a single class per week schedule is offered. For serious students, pointe classes are available.

Pointe classes are by invitation only as proper technique and strength is required. Students at the Advanced level must take a minimum of 2 ballet classes per week.

The children's jazz work is age appropriate material based on natural movements: walking, running, jumping and skipping, as well as isolations and rhythm. It is designed to encourage an imaginative and rapid response to music and to promote an appreciation and enjoyment of jazz. Classes will include traditional and up-to-date jazz movements, which improve coordination, balance, strength, flexibility, and rhythmic awareness.

Children’s Hip Hop is an introductory class to a style of street dance that has it's origin in NYC. In this class students will learn basics in all the different styles such as funk, locking, popping, old school and new school set to appropriate music. This is a great class for boys and girls!
